As a photographer and videographer, my hard drives and SSDs aren't just storage - they hold client shoots, months of footage, and files I can't reshoot. I've had that moment myself: a drive that suddenly wouldn't mount, work I thought was gone for good. That's what pushed me to properly learn data recovery, not just the basics. Now I offer the same service to people across West London going through exactly what I went through.
What I can recover
Photos, videos, music, documents - the stuff that actually matters. If it was on the USB, SSD or SD Card, there's a good chance it's still there.
Photos & videos
Shoot footage, phone backups, GoPro and camera cards — the stuff you can't reshoot.
Documents & business files
Invoices, contracts, spreadsheets, project files.
Accidentally deleted files
Emptied the bin, deleted the wrong folder — often still sitting on the drive.
Formatted drives
Wiped by accident or reformatted for something else — the old data often survives underneath.
SSDs that won't mount
Shows up in Disk Utility but won't open - usually a damaged file system, not a dead drive.
USB drives & memory cards
Flash drives, SD cards, camera cards that suddenly stopped working.
Worth knowing before you bring it in
This usually works for
- Drives your computer detects but won't open or mount
- Accidentally deleted or emptied-bin files
- Formatted or reformatted drives
- Corrupted file systems
This won't fix
- Physically damaged drives - clicking, grinding, dropped, water damage
- Drives your computer doesn't detect at all
- Drives that have had new data written since the loss
If your drive isn't showing up in Disk Utility at all, it likely needs a specialist lab with cleanroom equipment — get in touch and I'll point you in the right direction rather than take your money for something I can't fix.
